Scope of Work: We did a full repaint of the foyer, dining room, and stairwell.
The Why: This project highlights a significant color-scheme change, where the customer’s goal was to match an idea she saw online. Contrary to most homes with white on the trim, she opted for a unique look of a dark-brown trim, contrasting with the white walls, as she thought this better fit the unique style of her old home.
Unique Challenge: One of the unique challenges we faced on this project was fixing an area of the ceiling where the paint was chipping. Our approach was to sand and scrape the area. We applied a skim coat to level out the damaged area and applied a primer coat as well as two top coats of flat paint. The paint on the hutch was also coated with an oil-based paint, requiring that we primed with an oil-based primer before repainting.
Customer Priority: The priority for the customer was to brighten up the rooms while also making sure we were protecting the floors and stairs. This was a very old home, built in the 1800’s, so she stressed the importance of protecting the home and restoring its beauty.
