Project Spotlight 4: Exterior Painting is exactly what this home needed!

How Exterior Painting transformed this Greenwood, IN home

Last month, ONiT Painting had the privilege of completing an exterior painting project for Lisa and Greg. They have lived in their Greenwood, IN home for over 15 years, and were desperately seeking a new look. The house is a combination of brick and wooden siding, which appeared worn down from withstanding years of Indiana weather. Luckily, the ONiT office team was able to schedule them for a free painting estimate with our expert sales representative, David Amatuzzo

The initial meeting went wonderfully. Zach walked them through the process of painting unpainted brick, and the products that would require. He explained that we would need to use Loxon Brick/Masonry primer, as it gives brick the breathability that it requires. We would then apply two finishing coats to complete the project, and ensure the paint’s durability. Lisa and Greg decided after hearing all of this that they would like to receive two quotes. One quote for painting everything, the other for painting only the wooden siding. Zach was able to deliver them two detailed quotes, displaying the price difference between the two possible jobs, and explaining the reasoning behind it.

They were very impressed with Zach’s attention to detail, and willingness to accommodate their request of two different estimates.  In the end, Lisa and Greg decided that all they needed to freshen up their house was to paint the wooden siding, and the ONiT team moved forward with scheduling their project.

When a customer schedules a project with ONiT Painting, we send over a thorough check-list of what to expect from us, what to prepare, and additional tips for making the process go as smoothly as possible. We ask that customers send us their color selections 48 hours prior to the project start date, and our production manager verifies the color choice and placement at the start of the project.

Greg and Lisa chose Westchester Gray (SW2849) for their wooden siding. This color is a light grey with a hint of blue that appears in direct sunlight. It was the perfect color choice to pair with their existing brick. The contrast of the warm brick undertone with this cool gray color gave the house a very modern and refreshed look.

With their color selection finalized, both the Stidhams and the ONiT crew were excited to start painting! However, here at ONiT Painting we take a lot of care in setting up and preparing the surface for paint. We always do a thorough power wash before exterior projects, scrape off any flaking old paint, and tape/mask off any surfaces that will not be painted, as to avoid overspray. Lastly, we ensure that we prime the surface correctly depending on the material, and the type of paint we will be applying. These few extra precautions taken beforehand help make clean up easier, and most importantly, make the finished product look it’s best and last as long as possible.

In the end,  Lisa and Greg were overjoyed with the final look, and the entire ONiT Team was very proud to have satisfied our customers.
